Am I the only one who has tried really hard to look good for an upcoming vacation and then falls off track once I get there?

It sucks to admit it, but I think this happens to most people, whether they admit it or not! I recently went on a trip and actually stayed on track by following these simple tasks!


Staying on track while traveling can seem challenging, but there are effective ways to maintain your routine without compromising your enjoyment. A solid plan is the key to success!


  • Pack healthy snacks if you tend to snack. Personally, I am always snacking while I am traveling. To make things easier for me, I prepped my go-to healthier snacks. Ideas for quick snacks to pack include fruit, veggies, rice cakes, or protein bars. Having these readily available prevents the temptation to resort to unhealthy options.


  • Meal prep before your trip, ordering pre-prepared meals, or grocery shopping at your destination. On vacation, my preference is to go grocery shopping. My family takes turns every night preparing a healthier meal of their choice. This way, it’s something different every night while being a healthy, home-cooked meal. Healthier options and portion control. When I’m on a short trip, it isn’t always ideal to go grocery shopping. Going out is sometimes the easiest thing for me; however, when I do, I normally choose the healthier options. Although there are times when I am not feeling the healthier option, that’s okay; you're on vacation! So sometimes I’ll enjoy indulgent meals in moderation by watching my portions.


  • Drink water! On past trips, I have been constantly dehydrated. I realized all I needed was my favorite water bottle. I carried it constantly and drank water constantly throughout the day! Having it on hand serves as a constant reminder to stay hydrated.


  • Stay active! Most of the time, on trips, I try to find the local gyms. However, this trip, on top of finding a gym, I stayed moving by constantly walking. Walking is a simple yet effective way to keep fit. It’s intriguing to walk in different towns and cities. I’d enjoy walking in a new area every day if that was an option! Bodyweight workouts are a convenient alternative to visiting a gym.


  • While staying on track is important, don't let it overshadow your trip. Balance health with enjoyment for a fulfilling travel experience.
